Egypt to build a nuclear power plant in partnership with Russia

 Egyptian president Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin have agreed to corporate to build a nuclear power plant in Egypt.

 
The partnership deal was signed during an official visit by President Vladimir Putin to Egypt.
 
The move for a nuclear power plant project is expected to strengthen economic ties between the two countries and cater for electricity necessities in the country.
 
Due to Russia’s knowledge in the nuclear energy, it expected the will donate nuclear staff and scientific research to Egypt.
 
Egypt is exploring alternative sources of energy. Last year, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) announced that South Korea had signed an MOU with Arab Contractors for the exportation of Korean nuclear power plant to Egypt.
 
Under Ehud Mubarak, Egypt had announced a decision to build four nuclear reactors by 2025 with a generation capacity of 4,000MW and based in the northern city of El-Dabaa.
 
Putin stressed the important of ending Syrian conflict while Sisi indicated importance of ending Palestinian-Israeli problem. “We look forward … to the next round of such talks, which ultimately I hope will lead to a peaceful settlement of the situation in Syria,” Putin said.
